I purchased an upgrade in the material my necklace chain and pendant were made from. I bought a 10K gold necklace and pendant to ensure the highest of quality. Because this is THE most important possession you have other than your life.

The site offers the chains, and pendants, I believe, in Stainless Steel, Sterling Silver, 10K, and 14K choices.  So go with a medical alert necklace that you can afford but also understand you need something that will last a lifetime and that you do not have to replace.  So considering an upgrade might be something to think about.

Customer Support, Service, and Shipping

As with any product, we evaluated the customer support and service we would get before purchasing.  You don’t want a company that wants you to buy but then not help you after you buy.

On shipping, we received our medical necklaces super fast!  They were actually shipped faster that they said it would be shipped.  The company shipped to us by Express Mail which was a very quick delivery and their were no hassles at all.

In my last post, I talked about how a medical alert necklace could save someone’s life.  In this post, Jason and I learned a few things in our research on what you should consider before buying any type of medical alert necklaces.  I guess the best thing to do is break each point into sections to make it easier to read.

Style

To be honest, choosing the right style medical id necklace is probably the most important part aspect to consider.  The purpose of a medical alert necklace is to communicate to any medical personnel when you can’t.  That is first and foremost.  But if you are going to wear the necklace 24 hours a day, the way it looks on you does bother some people.  Case in point, my son.  He was not about to wear a necklace of any kind.  Being the teenager he is, the idea of a necklace was sissy.  All of friends at school were going to laugh at him.  And bully him in person or on Facebook.  Finding the right style medical alert necklace was more difficult for him but our search was worth it in the end.

So when you are looking at which necklace to choose, look at the many options and styles to see what suits you best.  You might want something that looks well with casual and dress clothes, for example.

So consider the strength of your neck muscles before choosing a medical alert necklace.  You will be glad you did.

Also, if you are somewhat conscious about others noticing your necklace, one that is very light is easier to be kept hidden.  It will be less bulky and easier to tuck under your shirt.  And because it is thinner, the medical identification tag won’t show through your shirt.

Quality/Durability

Other than the style, quality and durability would be the most important trait I would look for in a medical alert necklace.  What you are hoping to find is a high quality necklace that will not wear out.  And you don’t have to have it replaced.  Now, if you lose your medical alert id necklace, I can’t help you there.    But my suggestion is to pay for the premium upgrades and go for the 10kt or sterling silver chains medical pendants.  The cost for the value you get is well worth it.  You can even go as high up as 14kt gold if you want to get really fancy.

But you want a medical alert necklace made of materials that won’t scar or scratch. The workmanship is such that the engraving of your medical facts won’t rub out from the constant rub on your skin or shirt material.

But the absolute main thing to take in account for quality is can the necklace withstand water.  And will it be able to maintain it’s quality from liquid spills.  Many people like to be in the water.  Myself and the kids like to go to the beach or swim in the lake.  But you will also where your medical alert necklace in the shower or while you are in the tub.  This is especially important if you are a senior or elderly person.  Consequences of a serious medical condition can occur while you are in the shower or tub.  And if you can’t speak or incapacitated in some manner, you want to have a necklace that can be read by medics.  So how well your necklace holds up from water exposure is very, very important.
